Inserting a Horizontal Line in your
documents
| Q: |
How do I insert a
horizontal line in my Microsoft Word documents? I’ve tried
everything, but there doesn’t seem to be any easy solution.

Janice, there are a
couple of ways to insert lines into Word documents. You could start
by turning on the Drawing Toolbar (click on View > Toolbars >
Drawing) and then selecting the Line tool. This is good for drawing
freehand lines anywhere on your page. However, if you just want to
throw in a simple horizontal line across the page, try this. Hit
ENTER to bring your cursor down to a blank line. Now, type in 4 or 5
hyphens or underscores and press ENTER again. That will produce a
bottom paragraph border, which looks just like a horizontal line. We
teach this in our
Microsoft Word 101 course, which is available on our Web
site. |
