Education makes a people easy to lead but difficult to drive: easy to govern, but impossible to enslave.

D: DRIVE If your operating system (Windows) is installed on a drive other than C: (your primary drive) then our movie player software will not work properly, however you CAN still watch our videos. Our movie player software is nothing special, and you will miss no class material. Here's what you should do:

1. Open up My Computer or Windows Explorer (or however you prefer to navigate around on your computer).

2. Navigate to your Program Files folder (usually C:\Program Files, but you will have to find it on your system drive, perhaps D: or E: or wherever else Windows is installed).

3. Open the 599CD folder.

4. Go to the folder for your class (such as Word 101).

5. In the class folder you will see a series of class videos in numbered order. Double-clicking on them should launch them in Windows Media Player (which should already be installed on your system).

Again, we realize that this is a work-around, however the vast majority of most computer users have their operating system on their primary drive (C:) and this is only a problem for a tiny percentage of all users. Our video player software does nothing special, so you won't miss a thing by watching our videos with this approach.

If you do not have a C: drive at all, you might need to "create" a C: drive on your machine. You can do this by renaming one of your existing drives, creating a hard drive partition, a shared folder with a drive mapping, or by adding a new drive to your PC. Contact your computer support person for more information on this.

You can also try the following trick to "create" a C: drive.

1. Open a DOS (command) prompt by clicking on Start > All Programs > Accessories > Command Prompt.

2. Type in:   CD \

3. Type in:   MD cdrive

4. Type in:   SUBST C: cdrive

5. Now try installing our software.

This will create a "virtual" C: drive on your system by creating a folder on your current hard drive called "cdrive" and then using the DOS-level SUBST command to "substitute" this folder for your C: drive. Again, this will only work if you do not currently have a C: drive at all. Plus, you will need to retype this command sequence every time your computer starts, if you want to use our program (or you can just watch the videos directly out of the cdrive folder).
