Hey folks. Just figured I'd check in to let you all know I'm still here. I'm still working on cleaning up the video files and downloads from the main web server and moving them. Such a chore. I've also been preparing a few new tutorials as well.
A big piece of news today: after 12 years of burning, printing, packing, and shipping our CDs in-house, I've finally decided to outsource it. I've partnered with TrepStar.com and they will be handling all of our CD/DVD orders in the future. They make a great quality product (I've already ordered a sample CD for myself) and they're quick, too.
When we first started in 2002, we used to ship hundreds of CDs a week. However, as the years have gone on (and more people have gotten high-speed Internet access, we've been shipping less and less. Today, I'd say that less than 5% of all orders are shipped. So, SHIPPING orders is something we've come to do infrequently. Usually, I'll wait until we have at least 20 or so orders to ship them... and sometimes that can take a few weeks... and then customers get upset because their CDs haven't shipped.
So, now with TrepStar, I can process and ship individual orders the DAY after they've been placed. In fact, they have a method to completely automate this, which I'll get to eventually. For now, I just have to click one button to send your order to them for shipping. They have a 2 business day turnaround time for most orders, so now instead of "allow 6 to 8 weeks for shipping" I can change the web site to say "allow 3 to 5 business DAYS for shipping."
So, if you've been looking to get a copy of one of my CDs for your shelf, now's the time. :)
