We will also learn how to control the tab order of our forms.

- Multi-Column Combo Box
- Combo Box to Search Records
- List Boxes

I have a small DB into which I have added fields for First Name and Last Name. I would like to put  a combo box in the Employee Form for concatenated names, and a combo box for recurring percentages, all manually entered so far. Will that stuff up the manual records in the Pay record table? Read More...

Sorry don't really understand what you're asking. If you want to put First Name and Last Name togethor just make a query and make a new expression like FullName: FirstName & " " & LastName then you can base your combo box off that. I think this covers that Last Name, First

If you're asking if the 20% you typed in manually is going to mess things up later on when you enter a constant 20% option into the combo box, then no it shouldn't, although there's a chance human error could happen and mistype 30% or something, and that could screw with your pre-set options.

First - Cool name!  I've not heard that before.

No, it will not 'stuff up' the records. Unless you update the record, you are just taking the data that is already there and displaying it differently either on screen or in a report.

You will still be pulling that data from your Employee form where you will have to enter the data the first time.

Hi Richard, love the lessons clear and precise. I have successfully installed my ComboBox in the header of my form. I have it set to look for the FirstName and display the FirstName & LastName. Works a treat, is it possible to have the ComboBox text cleared ready for the next search? Dave from Aotearoa NZ (Land of the long white cloud) Read More...

I'll have to let someone else chime in on this one. I can't remember if there's a way to do it back in expert classes. But once you get to some macros or VBA programming you'll have no trouble doing this either with events or a "clear fields" button.

There is no way to do it without programming. When you get to the Developer classes, I'll show you how. Hint: AfterUpdate Event

I have successfully created some Combo Boxes. However, I am trying to create a new Combo Box and am getting the error message "Combo Box Wizard "Overflow"" when I drop the Combo Box onto the form. The Combo Box Wizard does not open. Help.
