Salon Database Demoted, Renamed
By Richard Rost

Well, my friend with the new hair salon has decided she doesn't need a big database solution to run her business right now. She's still in the startup phase and is still growing the business, so she's happy just using Google Calendar and some other simple off-the-shelf software to make appointments, handle the books, etc. She doesn't really need a big, full-featured software app right now. I understand her reasoning.
So the Online Salon Management database that I was planning has been demoted. It's no longer a priority. However, based on the HUGE numbers of you that voted in the poll and expressed interest in this project, I definitely want to build it... but I'm moving it down the list a little bit so I can get some other stuff finished first. See the updated Production Schedule for details. I'm also going to shift it a little bit so that it's more generic. Instead of focusing exclusively on salon management, I'm going to build it so that you can run ANY retail or service business with it. It will still have all of the same components: point of sale, scheduling appointments, employee time clock, etc.
I've renamed this to the Online Business Management Database Seminar and I've added an entry for it on the actual WAITING LIST. So if you really want to see this built soon, make sure to vote for it.
But, I just wanted to let everyone know that I'm moving it from "UP NEXT" to "IN THE QUEUE" and I'll work on it as I get time, after some more pressing lessons get finished. The Search Form, Sharepoint, and SQL Server seminars are actually in more demand, so I'm going to work on those first... unless the Waiting List voting results change.
