Well folks, I'm back from a much-needed vacation. My wife's brother lives in Key West, Florida, so we drove down (from Buffalo!) to stay with him for a few weeks for the holidays. Yes, it was a good drive, but I've never done it before and I've always wanted to do it.
Anyhow, now it's time to get back to work.
My short term goals are to finish putting together some new Microsoft Access 2007 classes, an advanced Access seminar, and some Windows 7 training. These are the most popular requests on the Waiting List.
If you are expecting a CD in the mail and it hasn't arrived yet, don't panic. We shipped orders from Florida for the past couple of weeks, but we put our home office as the return address for them - and some of them WERE returned here for various reasons. So we'll be shipping those right back out today. Plus another batch of new orders will be going out tomorrow.
I was doing my best to answer email while on vacation, but I wasn't able to get to some TechHelp questions or anything else that was complicated. So if you're still waiting for a reply from me, you should have it in the next day or two.
I hope everyone is having a good new year so far. Let's make 2010 our most productive year yet. I plan to keep the new courses flowing as fast as possible to keep everyone learning.
One of my problems traditionally has been that I'm a perfectionist. I always walk that line between making a perfect product and getting it out to the market. I just read a story in WIRED magazine about the creators of the popular video game "Duke Nukem" which I used to love back in the 90s. It's a 3D shoot-em-up game.
Anyhow, they announced a sequel to Duke Nukem back in 1997, but the owner was such a perfectionist that he wanted to keep adding new features... so they kept working on it and working on it and finally ended up closing shop because they never released a product (and their publisher is suing them too).
Well, that's been my problem. It takes me way too long to develop and produce videos because I'm always trying to make them PERFECT. They don't need to be perfect... so I'll kick the dial down a little bit to just AWESOME. :)
I'm going to make one of my resolutions for 2010 to be to get more classes out. I'm going to try to average 1 or 2 new classes a week. I think that's an attainable goal.
