Ideas for Next Access Seminar
By Richard Rost   Richard Rost on Twitter Richard Rost on LinkedIn Email Richard Rost   12 years ago

OK, so far, the most popular new topic that most people are really itching to see in the next new Access Seminar is how to make a multi-field search form.

For example, if you want to search for a customer, you could type in part of a name, address, phone number, etc. and have Access find that record (or records). This is a great idea. I have these all over my databases, but never thought to put them in a class.

I teach how to search on ONE field in my regular Access classes, but not on multiple fields at once. HINT: It will involve some SQL and some VBA, but it's not super hard.

OK, what are some other ideas you guys have for the next seminar? Post them here or email me.

I too would welcome a seminar that details using Access as the front end to a SQL Server back end. This should explain "Best Practices", triggers, views, stored procedures, would security be left to Access or SQL Server etc. This would be of great help to me.

Something on planning a database would be excellent.

Also multified search form would be great too.

I too would like to see a planning of a database. AND I would be very interested in the SQL for Access to have the SQLServer backend as well.

On another note; can you show how to have an alert 'POP' up in your calendar seminar and have a snooze feature added?
