Permission Parameter Issue Upload Images   Link   Email
Sean Sweeney
I'm utilizing a database with different user access levels. There is a table for users, permission level, and permission access.

1) The permissions seem to deny my access when I open my main database file in bypass mode - any way to fix this? I attempted an NZ function but that didn't seem to help. Not a big deal since I can open in design mode or log in on the front end with my password - Just kind of annoying.

2) forms that are protected that contain query-based cascading combo boxes, after the MsgBox noting access denied, I get an enter parameter value box "Form!TechnicianMainF!EntityID", etc (I have one form with three cascading combo boxes - so I have three enter parameter value boxes come up.

This is going from a searchable list with a doubleclick event openform. I have an SQL statement addressing the "FormName" for my coding, but I think I might replace the SQL statement for the specific form name, to see if it helps.

Sorry for a possible rule 9 violation. I'm just kind of stumped considering those forms open with no issue with logins allowing those permissions - but when I limit permissions, it seems to not want to play well with those forms containing cascading combo boxes. Just wondering if anyone else has came across this issue?

1) More information needed as we don't know how your database is set up.

2) Appears to be a typo. Should be: Forms!TechnicianMainF!EntityID (Missing 's' in Forms).

To really learn about user logins, I suggest the Security Seminar.

Hey Kevin - Good spotting, however in my database itself, it is spelled "forms". This was just from me trying to quickly explain my issues while not posting a bunch of code.

I know the parameter issue usually is due to misspellings but it seems to be caused by a permissions issue. As said, when the permissions allow access, the form opens with no issue. Only when logging in with a permission level that doesn't allow access. Very odd.

What is the name of your Combo Box? Is it EntityID or something different?
Sean Sweeney
so in "TechnicianMainF", the entityID is being called out by a textbox - and I have a cascading combo box ("ComplianceContactID") that queries based on what the entityid is.

the control source of the text box is "=DLookUp("OrgName","LicensedEntitiesT","EntityID=" & [EntityID])"

The controlsource of the query is "SELECT [ComplianceTechContactQ].[ComplianceContactID], [ComplianceTechContactQ].[LF] FROM ComplianceTechContactQ ORDER BY [LF];"

LF is a contatenated composite of "Last Name," & ", " & "First Name".

In the drop box, it will only show the (active) compliance contacts based on what the EntityID is.

As said, this seems to work fine and has otherwise no problem - just only when "TechnicianMainF" closes from permissions.
Sean Sweeney
I forgot to mention, the actual name of the combo box itself is "techcompliancecontactcombo" and the name of the textfield is "licensedtechnicianscompanyfield".
