Access Map Overlay Upgrade List
By Richard Rost   Richard Rost on Twitter Richard Rost on LinkedIn Email Richard Rost   14 months ago

This is a list of possible upgrades, enhancements, and bug fixes planned for the Access Map Overlay database:

  • Could the image be a Google maps link instead of an image?
  • Could each item jump to a web page or list a different form like the simple template loaded a customer?
  • Finger hover over text box
  • Increase max of boxes from 10 to X in code (an admin routine adds them, plus needed VBA events)

If you have any suggestions, please feel free to add them below.

I have an application where I would want to put about 100 points spread out on some map files. My thought was to make the background color transparent so when someone clicks on a building it gives them the building name and a value from a Query list. Also this is a 64 bit Win 10. Could this map overlay application support this?

Should work. I don't see why not. The full version supports both 32 and 64 bit. Not sure about those transparencies though. Access doesn't handle that well.

I am just starting these courses, but I know that I will eventually be adding a piece to our DB that I believe will be incorporating this Map Overlay.  Similar to the restaurant table or cemetery plot maps, ours will be floor plans showing beds/portions of rooms of our residential facilities.  I am hoping that the boxes that are placed on these maps can contain links to the beds (queries?) so that the data displayed can change as different residents are assigned to the different beds.  I will also need to learn how to increase the number of boxes available.  Can you please confirm that these options are possible?

Possible? Absolutely. I'll develop out this concept as much as there is demand.
