I just recently discovered a major problem in my mail server and several thousand student emails were never received, delivered, or were just lost completely. I performed a routine backup before the hurricane we had a few months ago, and somehow during this process something got messed up, and went unnoticed.
In some cases, I can see who sent the email, and what the subject was, but the body of the email is gone. In other cases the emails were there, but just stuck in the wrong box until I found them.
