Using Styles
Q: I have a document that is
very large. It has many chapters with chapter headings and section
headings. Whenever I want to make a change to the way the chapter or
section headings look (font, size, colors, etc.) I have to make the
change at least 50 times in my document. I know about the Format
Painter, but it still takes a long time to scroll through the document.
Is there a faster way? -Mike S.
A: Mike, you can use something
called a Style definition that allows you to say, "Style Heading 1
is going to be Arial, 16pt, Blue." You then apply that style once
through your entire document wherver you want it. Then if you decide you
want to change all of Heading 1 to Red, all you have to do is update the
Style definition. One simple change edits your entire document. See this
