Microsoft Excel 220-224
Data Analysis Series

Release Date: Available NOW!

Make Sense out of your Data!

In this series of Excel courses (220-224) we will study Data Analysis, the science (and art) of getting the most out of your data. If you've got lots of data, and need to learn how to get information out of it and make sense of it, these are the perfect classes for you.

The first class, Excel 220, starts off teaching you about Data Lists. We will learn how to create them, edit them, and format them. We will also work with Data Entry Forms. We will learn advanced sorting techniques for data lists. We will also learn how to customize our toolbars. This is the perfect introduction to Data Analysis using Microsoft Excel.

The second class, Excel 221, covers filtering your data using AutoFilter, creating custom AutoFilters, advanced filters, custom views, the SubTotal function and automatic subtotals. We'll run through a sample side project showing you how to send late notices to customers - filtering out those records we don't need to mail to. It's a good practical example of how filtering assists with data analysis.

If you don't know what any of these features are - that's OK. I'll show you what they are, how to use each one of them, and why you need them! >Richard

Next, in Excel 222, you will learn about Styles, Grouping & Outlining data, the AutoOutline feature, Manual Grouping, lots of tips and tricks, and Data Validation (how to make sure people are typing in the kind of data they're supposed to be typing in).

Excel 223 and 224 teach you all about PivotTables, which are an exciting tool used to make sense out of a mountain of data. You can use a PivotTable to take thousands of rows of records and condense them down into a nice, small, easy-to-read, 3-dimensional report.

Excel 223 covers a detailed explanation of what PivotTables are, some examples of them, and why you want to use them. Then, we'll show you how to build one, how to manipulate it, edit it, change field settings, "pivot" your data, setup inner and outer fields, refresh your data, filter your results, and much more. We'll look at several examples, including a sales report, employee database, and more.

In Excel 224, we'll continue learning about PivotTables (yes, they're complicated, but very rewarding!) You'll learn how to drill down to detail, group dates and numeric data together, setup subtotals, format your tables, insert calculated fields, generate running totals, and much more. We'll spend a good 15 minutes towards the end of class running through a great example of a human resources sheet (employee hours and pay rates) that uses all of the skills we've learned recently: IF() function, VLOOKUP, and a PivotTable. This is a GREAT class.

You can order just the individual classes in this series, or get the entire Data Analysis Series Combo right now and save almost $30 off of buying the courses separately! See below for more information!

"Whether you have massive amounts of data that you need to make sense of, or just want to see your data in new and interesting ways, you need to learn how Excel's Data Analysis features are designed to

"This series will cover a lot of great material on analyzing your data. You'll learn how to manage data the right way - and learn how to present your data in clear and concise worksheet reports.

"Plus, we'll take a lot of cool side trips on this journey... working with practical examples like sending customer late notices, calculating time differences, and lots more. There are lots of great
tips and tricks in this series."

What's Covered in Excel 220

We will begin Excel 220 by learnng how to create and work with Data Lists. Properly formatting your data into Lists will make analyzing that data much, much easier - and will allow you to use many of Excel's automatic Data Analysis functions.

You will learn how to create and work with Data Entry Forms to add or edit data in your worksheets. You might be comfortable working just in the spreadsheet, but Data Entry Forms are great for giving the sheet to someone else - like a novice user.

We will learn some advanced sorting techniques, such as how to get a list of month names to sort by month order - and not alphabetically! You try that one at home. We'll also take some time to study the rules of alphanumeric sorting.

We'll also learn how to customize toolbars. Being able to create our own custom toolbars will greatly help us later because a lot of the data analysis commands are buried deep in menus - and to make our own toolbars will speed things up!

And that's just the first class!

Of course, as you know, this brief outline only covers the major topics. If you've taken any of my courses in the past, you know that each lesson is jam-packed with tips and tricks (and commentary - some good, some... just boring, but hey! I try!)

Including step-by-step walk through and screen shots!

(We don't have the full outlines with screen shots available for the other four courses in the series... we're still working on them, and we'll post them here as soon as they're done.)

And on a personal note...

I really enjoyed recording the Excel 220 series.

I was able to cover some of the more advanced features of Excel that people don't use a lot - but really add power and functionality to your spreadsheets.

I talk to lots of people all the time who ask me how to make better sense of their data - they've got huge sheets of lots and lots of numbers, but don't know how to get information out of it. That's what data analysis does - it helps you to understand the mountain of data you're staring at.

So, if you like Excel, and you want to learn how to really make Excel do what you want it to do, pick up a copy of the Data Analysis Series today.

Thank you, as always, for your continued support!

- Richard Rost, President & CEO

P.S. This series consists of five classes, and is over five hours long... I go over a lot of different material. You will be an expert in Excel Data Analysis after finishing this series!
