Problems with Old 599CD Discs?
By Richard Rost   Richard Rost on LinkedIn Email Richard Rost   17 years ago

I've been getting a lot of emails from people lately saying that they're having trouble downloading, they can't find their passwords, or they have OLD courses from a year or so ago and the new passwords don't work with them.

Yes, we did recently change our password scheme for all of our courses. Remember a little while back when I recompiled all of the lessons to work with VISTA, well, I redesigned the password scheme too. So if you have any old courses from before October 2007 and you look up your password on the web site, it's not going to work. You'll need to download your courses again.

So, here's what I recommend you do if you're having any kind of problems downloading or you can't figure out passwords (etc.)

STEP ONE: Delete any old courses you have on your system from 599CD. You should be able to find them in your Control Panel under Add/Remove Programs. You can also delete any downloaded EXE files from us, or icons on your desktop.

STEP TWO: Go to the web site at /download

STEP THREE: Just click on the SUBMIT button (don't enter any code here). This will take you to our download page.

STEP FOUR: Download the Amicron Video Player. Just select one of the two servers (1) or (2) by clicking on it. When Windows asks you if you want to download the file or open it from it's location, select OPEN IT or RUN IT.

STEP FIVE: When the Player is done downloading, you will see it install automatically. There is no password required. This is our program.

STEP SIX: Close or minimize your web browser. On your Windows Desktop you should see an Icon labeled 599CD Computer Training. It looks like a multicolored CD-ROM. Open it. This will run our Player.

STEP SEVEN: Make sure you are ONLINE when our Player loads. It will connect to our web site. Click on the MY ACCOUNT button in the bottom right corner. Depending on whether or not you've set up an account on our web site "Account Info" section, you might be asked some questions (username, password, etc.)

STEP EIGHT: Once you've created your online account, click on the MY COURSES link. This should show you a list of ALL of the courses you've purchased from us. If something is missing, contact customer service. You might have more than one account in our system (under a different email address).

STEP NINE: Click on the course name to download your course from inside the player. Follow the instructions as they're given to you by the player - it should be easy as cake from this point on.

Once your course downloads, you will be walked through the installation procedure, and you will be brought back into the Player where you should see it on the Course Listing. Double-click to play it.

Any questions, please post your comments here, or contact customer service: Contact Me

Oh, and if you have an old CD and don't want to download your courses again, you can install an audio codec program that will allow your OLD CD to work under Vista. All of the details are here:

Vista Codec

However I strongly recommend you download the files again. The new Video Player is well worth it.

Also, if you want a new CD, we are happy to ship you one out. Just pay shipping. Contact customer service if you would like a new CD sent out to you.

If you definitely want to keep your old CD and you lost your passwords, you'll have to contact customer service for them. The passwords on the old CDs don't work with the new ones, and we'll have to find your passwords for you (you can't look them up in the customer service web either).
