Sorry, but for security reasons, this feature only works for Thread descriptions that have only alphanumeric characters in them (A-Z,0-9). Richard still has to scrub all of the OLD descriptions from the system.

I have a form that has 3 combo boxes:
Department, Director, and Team Members.  I am thinking about changing these to cascading combos to filter the extensive employee list.
Here's the thing, how do I edit the query to exclude an employee who is no longer with the company, without changing all of the previous forms that they may be listed on?

Did you make the Combobox have a Source of a Query or are they all custom SQL?
If it's a Query in your Object Window and you can amend that as wherever it's used will be fine to change all then just add a WHERE clause that has something like Exists=NO or however you determine they have left.
If not you will need to change them manually.

Read Import Excel to Access by Meredith D @ Thu 3/15
How do you move SOME information from one column to another, like 20 records at a time?  It doesn't work like Excel so cannot highlight, cut and paste, only individually by row.  I need to do this when I import Excel direct marketing lists into my Access database.

Read Creating Employee Vacation Database by John S @ Wed 3/14
I recently purchased the Beginners and Expert up tp 25 classes and they have helped greatly. I know I'm jumping around, but can you help me with saving data for each form I made so they can be viewed, queried and reported individually. I.E. I need to save data for a Paid leave form, Unpaid Leave form, and FMLA form for an employee.

Read Error in Access Developer after D3 database by Jan H @ Tue 3/13
In Access Developer 3, the "add" in CommissionF was created. I had problems with the SQL statement so I checked with the "after Developer 3 database" and the same problem appeared there. When the add VBA code is running it stops at the SQL statement with the following: "Runtime error '3346'. "Number of query values and destination fields are not the same." (But they are the same) How can I resolve this???

Thanks again for replying.

Yes I did. It still is showing up. The database is in the trusted folder. No warning messages show up for me to click enable. The error still shows up.
Everytime I try to use the SetValue function, this still pops up. Its really frustrating.

Might be worth using VBA instead, I've never used Macros because I don't like them, VBA is just easier to work with. Sorry I can't be of any help.

Thanks for the prompt response.
Yes, RegisterF is my main form and ProductListF is my subform.

So I got the error messages to stop BUT nothing is happening. I decided to take it to VBA code. Here is what I have so far:

Private Sub PLbtn_Click()

Dim SQL As String

SQL = ProudctQ

    DoCmd.GoToControl "ProductListF"
    DoCmd.ApplyFilter , Forms!RegisterF!ProductListF.Form!ItemNumber Like "*" & Forms!RegisterF!ProductListF.Form!Text28 & "*" Or Forms!RegisterF!ProductListF.Form!ItemDescription Like "*" & Forms!RegisterF!ProductListF.Form!Text28 & "*"

End Sub

I noticed when I enter a keyword into the textbox that matches a product I know thats in there and I click the button (PLbtn) on my subform, the date that is on my main form disappears.

Its some really weird behaviour.

Depending on where the code is, whether it's in the form or the subform depends on how you reference the forms it wants to talk to. They have to be open too.

When I add a sub form, it is a vertical sequence of forms I can scroll through.  I would like to scroll horizontally.  How do I do that?  Can I do that?  Is there a way to show a sequence of forms in a 4 x 4 grid?

You could use a CrossTab Query but no Access works with ROWS, it's not like EXCEL in that way.

Read Filtering Subforms on Main Form by Stephen K @ Fri 3/9
Hi guys,

I have a continuous subform on my main form. In the subform, i have set up a textbox and search button in the subforms footer. Behind the search button is a macro that looks up the text of the content in the textbox and filters the form accordingly.
The filter works perfectly for the subform when its not in the main form. Here is whats in my Where Condition:

[ItemNumber] Like "*" & [Forms]![RegisterF]![ProductListF].[Form]![RegisterSearchBar] & "*" Or [ItemDescription] Like "*" & [Forms]![RegisterF]![ProductListF].[Form]![RegisterSearchBar] & "*"

Please help

So the [RegisterF] is the Main Form?
The [ProductListF] is the SubForm?

If anyone is reading this and went through all hell to get this done, heres what to do:

1. Make a continuous form, and set it to whatever query needed
2. Place a textbox in the header
3. Create a button and exit the wizard. Make this button the default button in the property sheet and go to the other tab, there you will see default, select yes
4. Behind this button, on the property sheet, go to the Event tab
5. You'll see on the click option. click the "..." button to the end. it appears when the mouse hovers over the field
6. Go to macro builder
7. If youre using access 2007 like me, it looks nothing like access 2010 so i was tearing my hair out. Under the action column, click the drop down box, select ApplyFilter
8. Now here is where you will have the change the parameters to match your database. In the "where condition" field, enter:

[ItemNumber] Like "*" & [Forms]![ProductListF]![RegisterSearchBar] & "*" Or [ItemDescription] Like "*" & [Forms]![ProductListF]![RegisterSearchBar] & "*"

Item Number and ItemDescription are the two fields i am typing in partial text to search for records.

ProductListF is the form this is happening in.

Now save all of that and exit macro builder. Save the form, open and close.... Thank me later...

Read Error 2950 by Stephen K @ Thu 3/8
Hi guys,
Im using Access 2007. Everytime I try to use the action set value, i get the error message 2950. The problem is my database is in fact in a Trusted Location folder.
So what gives?

I have created a subform which lists all employees working on a particular job. One of the fields in the subform is length of service (text box - calculates length of service from hire date). Is there a way to show the average length of service for all employees working on the job on the main form?

Read Balance Due by Dennis O @ Tue 3/6
I am trying to find out what lesson covered topics like invoice. If their is a balance due, it will show "Balance Due $" and when the invoice is paid, the Balance Due no longer shows up on the invoice. I'm trying to have some tickets designed that these tickets will appear on the report but if that ticket was to be voided the word "VOID" will appear over the printing.

Thank you sir. I was able to use the ApplyFilter action in the macrobuilder to get this done. I applied this macro to the search button and it works like a charm. It took me literally 2 months to figure this out. If anyone needs help, ill be glad to help out.

I keep getting an #Error msg.
This is an Unbound popup form.
What I have so far,

formula =Sum([Miles]/[Time])/24

Unbound [Miles] formated as General Number, 3 decimial places

Unbound [Time] formated as n:ss".000"

Result {Speed] formated as general number 2 decimal places.

You would need them bound to a value in your table or how would it get the data?
Another option is to use DOMAIN Functions like DSUM etc to get the value.
