Read Access nested subforms by Jean Barnett @ 9/14/2015
I have an Access 2007 database with one form with three nested subforms.  It has been running for two years.  All of a sudden the third subform will not allow adding records, but only on a Windows 8.1 system - it still works fine on Windows 7.  Was there a recent Windows 8.1 update that might be responsible?

Reply from Alex Hedley:

Is the db in a trusted location?
Are the other subforms read only?
Are other dbs working fine or just this one?

Dear Richard, Can you help me. I have a VHSDVD player combo machine and want to burn a DVD from the computer so it plays on this machine. Do you know the format that I need. Does AVI and MP3 format just play the audio?. I need the video and audio format. Can you tell me please. All the best.
Regards Selby Halfpenny

Reply from Alex Hedley:

Some players allow video playback of raw video files others need to be an actual movie.

Have you tried Windows DVD Maker?

I'll try and find the program I used to use but this was on an old machine many years ago.

After following the recommendation to open Windows Defender in the Windows 8 tutorial I have a recurring problem.

1/ Defender keeps closing down
2/ It will not complete a update
3/ It will not complete a scan

I have deleted the anti virus program I was using but still the same problem. Has anyone else had this problem and What should I do to fix this problem.

Read Dual Boot Acer Aspire One by MICHAEL J @ 3/23/2015
I have Acer Aspire One with Windows7 Starter and Android. I know how to set it up to boot up on either Windows desk top or Android. Is it possible to switch from the windows desk top to the Android desktop without restarting and changing the Acer Configuration Manager for Andriod.

Read Update to Win 8 1 by Uri @ 7/26/2014

I gonna unbox a new HP Probook 470. It comes with win8. Should I immediately update to 8.1 before I do anything or should I firs work with 8 for a while and then update?

Reply from Richard Rost:

I would update it as soon as you can. In addition to the interface upgrades, there have been a lot of patches and bug fixes.

Read The Windows Update from 8 to 8 1 by pmgamer18 @ 6/10/2014
I did a lot of research on Windows 8.1 and seen the apps open very slow and other web sites.  Also there is so much running on 8.1 that if you have a laptop it runs hot all the time and the cooling fan is running all the time.

Now this is what I found out researching this dose anyone that went from 8 to 8.1 on a laptop have this problem.

If this is true I don't want 8.1.
Thanks Phil

Reply from Richard Rost:

Haven't had any problems with 8.1 yet myself.

Read SHIFT F3 shortcut in Windows 8 by MUBEEZI M @ 6/6/2014
Hi Rick!

I got it finally. On my laptop, i have to press the Fn key as well.

Reply from Richard Rost:

Oooooh.... you didn't say you were using a LAPTOP. Yes, that's one of the things that angered me a little while ago. I bought a new Toshiba laptop and they share the upper row of function keys with their system control keys, so the volume up/down buttons are shared with F9 and F10. In order to use the function keys, you have to press the blue FN button. I hate this! It should be the other way around... and there is a way to switch them permanently if you go into the Toshiba setup software. Now I only have to use the FN key to use the Toshiba features.

Has this ever happened to anyone when trying to login to Windows?

The User Profile Service failed the logon.
User profile cannot be loaded.

Googled the problem, so here is how to fix it.

I used Method 1 in Safe Mode.

Reply from Richard Rost:

I've never had that problem before, but thanks for sharing. I'm sure it will help someone.
